GILROY, CA (June 15, 2015) -This past Saturday and Sunday hometown hero,Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero hosted the first inaugural fundraiser for the BFC (Breathe For Caley) Foundation at Uesugi Farms Pumpkin Park in San Martin, CA.  Known for being a community leader, Robert Guerrero donated 100K to the non-profit organization, helping the foundation, which grants chronically ill kids with a wish of their choice, to kick off their first event.   

Children of all ages attended the BFC event and their first recipient, 13-year oldMaria Fajardo, who received a double lung transplant, was granted her wish to attend an Oakland Raiders game with her donor family.  Together they will receive VIP tickets and field passes to a Raiders home game in 2015.

 “This was a very special day for everyone involved with the BFC Foundation,” said Robert Guerrero. “We’ve all worked really hard to get this non-profit organization off the ground and I wanted to show my gratitude by donating to the cause.  It brings me great pleasure to see these kids get a wish of their choosing.  Caley Camarillo was dear to my heart and her love and legacy will live on through her foundation.  The first event was a great success and many more will follow.  I want to thank all the board members, volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who attended for making this a wonderful time”

AROMAS, CA(May 28, 2015)- Four-Division world champion, “Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (32-3-1, 18 KOs) hosted a media workout yesterday at the CrossFit Ranch to shed light on his upcoming fight with Aron Martinez.  The 10-round main-event bout will take place at StubHub Center in Carson, Calif., June 6, 2015 and will air live on NBC starting at 3:00 p.m. ET/12:00 p.m. PT.

Guerrero, who won the hearts of America with his gut wrenching performance against Keith Thurman in his last fight, is looking forward to another main-event attraction where he can showcase his entertaining fighting style to the fans. 

“All the hard training is done and now it’s time to zone in,” said Robert Guerrero. “Everyone should be watching the PBC on NBC June 6th because I believe this is going to be a crowd-pleasing fight.  Aron Martinez is not coming to lay down.  He’s had plenty of time to prepare for this fight and I’m expecting him to come out guns blazing.  One thing is for sure, I’m going to be throwing some hard shots right from the opening bell.  My goal is to bring an entertaining fight to the fans and let my hands go.  Fight night can’t come soon enough.”

Headlining his second PBC on NBC, Guerrero wants continue fighting on a regular basis.  Known for being an all-out action fighter, Guerrero feels he can close out the rest of 2015 with a bang. 

“I can’t emphasize how important it is for me to be fighting back to back in just a couple of months,” Guerrero continued. “Staying active is crucial to any fighter.  The more you fight the better you perform and I can feel the improvement in my whole fighting style.  If possible, I want to fight two more times before the year ends, but first I must get past Martinez.”

“First I really want to thank Al Haymon for bringing boxing back to the fans.  This is another wonderful opportunity where fans from all walks of life can see me fight on NBC for free.  PBC on NBC has taken boxing back to its glory days and I’m honored to be headlining my second show.  Everyone knows I come to fight and you can expect the same when I step in the ring with Martinez.

On staying active…

“When a fighter is constantly staying busy, it makes a world of difference.  My timing is down, my body is used to the rigorous training.  When I’m on the grind, I perform at a much higher level.  This will be the first time I’ve had back to back fights in a very long time.  Everyone watching this fight will see the difference in my fighting style.

The 32-year-old Lara is a slick boxer with the ability to deliver punishment while taking very little of it in return.  Lara has notched victories over Alfredo Angulo, Austin Trout and Freddy Hernandez throughout his career. As an amateur, Lara won numerous titles including a national championship at welterweight and also participated in the 2007 Pan-Am games. The fighter originally from Guantanamo, Cuba but fighting out of Houston most recently defeated former world champion Ishe Smith on his way to his 20th professional victory.

 Already deep into an accomplished career, the 35-year-old Rodriguez looks to give Lara a stiff test and entertain the crowd at UIC Pavilion on June 12. The 32-year-old Guerrero out of Gilroy, California owns victories over Andre Berto, Selcuk Aydin and Michael Katsidis. He most recently electrified fans with an exciting performance against Keith Thurman on the inaugural PBC card on March 7 of this year. A former world champion in four weight classes, Guerrero looks to put on another outstanding performance on June 6 at StubHub Center.

Born in Uruapan, Michoacan de Ocampo, Mexico, but fighting out of East Los Angeles, Martinez makes his StubHub Center debut on June 6. The 33-year-old turned pro in 2005 and won his first seven starts before a technical draw in 2007 against Vito Gaspayran. A tough fighter Martinez strung together 10 straight victories between 2009 and 2012.

The 34-year-old Arreola defeated Curtis Harper in a thrilling heavyweight showdown on March 13 in Ontario, Calif. Born in Escondido, Calif. but fighting out of Los Angeles, Arreola has long been one of the most feared punchers in the heavyweight division. Having challenged the best in the division, Arreola knows what it takes to succeed at this level and looks to entertain his hometown fans on June 6.

A hard fighting Mexican warrior born in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico but fighting out of Coachella, Calif., Angulo is looking for a big victory in front of his adopted hometown fans. Always ready to challenge the best in the sport, the 32-year-old has gone toe-to-toe with some of the best fighters in the world and holds knockout victories over Gabriel Rosado, Joachim Alcine and Joel Julio.

A fast-rising star out of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Cuellar looks to make it 10 victories in a row when he battles Darchinyan on June 6. His power in both hands has led him to six knockouts of his last nine victories including a second round destruction of Puerto Rican icon Juan Manuel Lopez in Sept. 2014. The 28-year-old will make his first career start in California when he enters the ring at StubHub Center.

Looking to put himself back into the discussion of top featherweights, the 39-year-old Darchinyan comes in with the kind of experience to topple the explosive Cuellar. A former world champion, the fighter from Armenia who fights out of Glendale, California is coming off of a ninth-round TKO over Juan Jimenez in February of this year. “Greed” vs. “Public” The Fight Of The Century

For what shall it profit a man if they shall gain the whole world but lose their own soul? Boxing gained the world with the Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao bout but in the end, did the sweet science lose its soul?

From the beginning, it was correctly speculated that this fight would be the most lucrative in the sport’s storied history but it wasn’t until “Mr. Greed” reared his ugly head and called out “Mr. Public” that we disappointedly understood the reality of the situation.

THE EARLY ROUNDS–

 Although Pay-Per-View (PPV) prices have increased over the past several years, they have settled around the high fifties for a non HD telecast with HD in the high sixties. The PPV price for Mayweather/Pacquiao was set at Non HD= $89.95, HD=$99.95, a considerable increase.

 It is understood that when a big fight is in town, especially a Floyd Mayweather fight, hotels on the Las Vegas Strip will significantly increase. When this fight was announced, some properties tripled or in some cases, even quadrupled in price over “typical” Mayweather fight week prices.

 “Greed” establishes the jab, keeping “Public” off balance and unable to implement a counter attack.

 

THE MIDDLE ROUNDS–

 The cheapest ticket prices for the masses to attend Mayweather/Pacquiao started at $1,500 for a “nosebleed” seat and went up from there with only a reported five hundred made available to the general public in an arena that seats over 16K. Conveniently, all tickets sold out in minutes with a large majority immediately available on the secondary market starting as “low” as a years salary for most people, and in some cases six figures being the cost for the golden ticket.

 If that was out of your price range and you were going to Vegas, no need for frustration, you can watch on closed circuit for a price of $150 plus tax, oh, albeit only at MGM properties and only if you were lucky enough to snag a ticket in the hour before they too sold out. If not, tickets could be had on the secondary market with some asking and receiving four times the original amount.

 “Greed” lands an uppercut!!!!! “Public” is down!!

 For the first time, tickets are sold for a weigh in.  The tickets are very reasonable at $10 with the amazing gesture of all proceeds going to charity.

 “Public” is up at the count of seven and lands a counter right as “Greed” comes rushing in for the finish.

 Moments after all weigh in tickets sell out in under an hour, the secondary market was littered with them and listed upwards of $700 for a single $10 ticket. Dishearteningly, not all proceeds from the weigh in tickets sales will make it to the charities.

 “Greed ” hits “Public” with a low blow.

 

THE CHAMPIONSHIP ROUNDS–

 As the world watched, Mayweather dominated Pacquiao with the beauty of the sweet science leaving countless fans unsatisfied…and then the unthinkable……Pacquiao claims that he had, and fought, with a shoulder injury; however, when filling out the pre-fight medical paperwork, the fighter and his camp documented a picture of health.

 As of this writing, there have been 13 class action lawsuits filed in eight states, each in excess of five million dollars alleging that Pacquiao’s injury “unquestionably materially, significantly and negatively affected the quality of the product” and that the failure to disclose the injury turned the “Fight of the Century” into the “Sleight of the Century.”

 “Public” lands an overhand right and rocks “Greed”

 The projected amount of money generated from the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight is (amount in millions) PPV $500, Live Gate $72, Sponsorship $13, and Closed Circuit- $10. It’s understood that the simple rules of economics applies here and supply and demand will always dictate pricing but when is it enough?

Sadly, a bad precedent has been set for future mega bouts…..the sweet science can bet its soul.

  “Greed” recovers and attacks “Public” to the ropes landing a blistering combination……”Public” is down!!!!!!…..”Public” has been knocked out.

“Was it a huntsman or a player, that made you pay the cost, that now assumes relaxed positions and prostitutes your loss? Were you tortured by your own thirst in those pleasures that you seek, that made you Tom the curious, that makes you James the weak?”  -Rodriguez

NORTH BERGEN, NEW JERSEY (May 11, 2015)- Former world champion, Daniel Geale (31-3, 16 KO’s) has arrived in the United States for his upcoming showdown with WBC and Ring Magazine Middleweight World Champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32 KO’s).  Geale will host the remainder of his training camp in North Bergen, NJ. 

“I’ve arrived in the States with my trainer Shaw and I’m excited to get camp started in New Jersey,” said Daniel Geale. “Gary Shaw has provided me with a nice gym and I’m going to start my sparring sessions right away.  This is a big fight, not only for my team and I, but for my countrymen as well. A new champion will be crowned on June 6th.”

Cotto vs. Geale, a 12-round fight for Cotto’s WBC and Ring Magazine Middleweight World Championships, takes place Saturday, June 6 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn and will be televised live on HBO.  The fight is presented by Roc Nation Sports and Miguel Cotto Promotions in association Gary Shaw Productions and is sponsored by Cerveza Tecate.
