MARIO BARRIOS Scores Spectacular 1st Round Knockout

BIRMINGHAM, AL (September 26, 2015) Tonight at the Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama, super-featherweight phenom, Mario Barrios scored a spectacular first round knockout over Mexico’s Eduardo Rivera (9-3-2, 3 KOs).  An overhand right, landed flush on the head of Rivera, stopping the bout at the 2:04 mark of round one.  With the win, Barrios who hails from San Antonio, Texas, improves his record to (12-0, 7 KOs).

“Tonight I wanted to come out here and make a statement with a solid win,” said Mario Barrios. “I landed a nice shot and got the knockout.  I’ve been grinding in the gym and all the hard work is paying off.  On Monday I’ll be right back in the gym getting ready for my next fight, which I’m hearing might be in San Antonio this November.”

MARIO BARRIOS Makes Rapid Return To The Ring 9/26 In Alabama

SAN ANTONIO, TX (September 17, 2015 – Undefeated super-featherweight sensation, Mario Barrios (11-0, 6 KOs), makes a rapid return to the ring as he will fight an opponent TBA on the Wilder vs. Duhaupas card, taking place at the Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama, Saturday, September 26.

This will be the third 8-round bout for the San Antonio, Texas native.  In his last bout which took place on September 6th in Corpus, Christi, TX, Barrios scored an impressive fourth round TKO over Jose Cen Torres.  A body shot to the liver ended the bout at the 2:10 mark of the round.  Looking to stay active, Barrios is relishing at the opportunity to fight on another high profile card.

Off Into The Sunset? Mayweather Dominates Berto

TBE, The Best Ever.  Floyd Mayweather  (49-0 26 KO) has been telling us for sometime that he is TBE. Maybe he is, maybe he isn’t.   In the end it’s personal opinion, arguments spanning over different eras, and difficult to prove one way or another.

One thing’s for sure with no argument,  Mayweather is TBG, The Best (of his) Generation and arguably many others.

On Saturday night, he thoroughly dominated Andre Berto (30-4 23 KO) with judge’s scores of 117-111, 118-110, and 120-108. Standing-8 had it 120-108.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. For some that would be watching a Mayweather fight. You are not going to get a different result so prepare to go insane if you don’t like the beauty of his craft.

On Saturday night, Floyd did what he always does,  use the jab, use the counter right, go to the body,  exhibit excellent footwork and defense and hit and don’t get hit. On this night he did it all exceptionally well.  Not much more to write on the fight,  if you’ve watched his mastery before you’ve already seen it.

At the end of the fight Floyd went to the center of the ring, kneeled down and raised both arms upward.  That was something new and a sign that this may be it. In his post fight interview he eluded to the same saying he is now retired.

A living legend painting masterpieces fight after fight.  If this is the end, farewell champ,  we miss you already.

Trout Stops Hernandez In 6

Austin “No Doubt” Trout (30-2 17 KO’s) did what he was supposed to do to a fighter who struggled to make weight and then ballooned upwards of twenty pounds in a day, walk him down and destroy him to the body. Trout did just that to opponent Joey “Twinkle Fingers” Hernandez (24-4-1 14 KO’s) on Tuesday knocking him out in the sixth round with a series of body shots.

Trout looked sharp from the opening round snapping his jab and increasing his workload and attack to the body with each passing round. In the fourth round,  Hernandez body slammed Trout during a clinch causing referee Jack Reiss to take a point giving Trout a 10-8 round. A moot point really as Trout was dominating every round before the stoppage.

Over his past few fights, Trout has slowly started to show glimpses of the highly skilled fighter who beat Miguel Cotto and gave Canelo Alvarez all he wanted before dropping a very close decision.

He had a tough run in life back in 2013, losing the Alavarez fight, his first as a pro,  his grandmother tragically suffering a fatal heart attack at his wedding, and then the loss to Erislandy Lara but Trout is a man of faith and he has gained strength through the storm to continue his journey. 

If Trout continues to improve and reach that world class level once again, one things for sure,  his opponents better be ready, and most importantly be in shape.

MARIO BARRIOS STOPS TORRES IN 4 ROUNDS

SAN ANTONIO, TX (September 6, 2015) Super-Featherweight phenomenon, Mario Barrios improved to (11-0, 6 KOs) with another sensational knockout, stopping his opponent Jose Cen Torres, at the 2:10 mark of round four.  Leija Battah Promotions and Warriors Boxing promoted the event from American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas, which aired live on Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on CBS.

In the opening round, Barrios used his height and reach to perfection, keeping Torres at bay with a powerful jab.  Torres, who was running for dear life, did everything he could to survive.  After dominating for the first three rounds, Barrios turned up the heat.  In the round four, Barrios came out guns blazing, and landed a double left hook to Torres’ temple, followed by a bruising shot to the liver, ending the bout.  With the win, Barrios sees himself as a force to be reckon with in the super-featherweight division. 

“This was a good fight for me as I’m on my march for a world title,” said Mario Barrios. “I definitely want to get right back in the gym to start working on some things I know I can improve on.  Because Torres was giving me a lot of movement, I had to make some adjustments.  Once I figured him out, I know I was going to stop him. CALEB “SWEET HANDS” PLANT RETURNS TO THE RING TUESDAY SEPT 22 ON FOX SPORTS 1

NASHVILLE, TN (September 2, 2015) Undefeated Middleweight prospect, Caleb “Sweet Hands” Plant (9-0, 8 KOs), makes a speedy return to the ring as he will face an opponent TBA on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at the Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.  The Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on Fox Sports 1 will televise the card headlined by Julian Williams.  Plant will open up the telecast which begins at 9PM ET / 6PM PT live on Fox Sports 1.

With seven first round knockouts to his credit, Plant, a rising star, is rapidly establishing himself as one of the most feared fighters in the middleweight division.  He’s currently riding a seven fight knockout streak, having gone the distance only once in his career. 

In his last bout, which took place on August 15, 2015, Plant demolished late sup Zoltan Sera (20-6, 12 KOs) by way of a first round knockout. Look for Caleb Plant to continue with an aggressive style when he steps into the ring on Sept, 22.

AHMED ELBIALI TO FACE PENA ON FOX SPORTS 1

MIAMI, FL (September 2, 2015)  On Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood, California, undefeated light heavyweight power puncher, Ahmed Elbiali (11-0, 10 KOs) is scheduled to fight on the televised portion of the Premier Boxing Champions on Fox Sports 1 card headlined by Austin Trout (29-2, 16 KOs) vs. Joey Hernandez (24-3-1, 14 KOs).  Elbiali will face an Fabiano Pena (12-3-1, 8 KOs) in an 8-round bout.  The PBC telecast will begin at 9PM ET / 6PM PT live on Fox Sports 1. 

Elbiali, who’s known for having heavy hands, is one of the most exciting fighters in the light heavyweight division. With a 90% knockout ratio, Elbiali is being touted as the next great knockout artist.  He’ll look to continue that trend against Pena. 

“I’m always looking to end the fight early if I get my opponent hurt,” said Ahmed Elbiali. “A couple of fights ago I went the distance for the first time and I felt good knowing I can fight into the later rounds if need be.
